Westminster Abbey is a place of worship and a site of immense historical significance. The following guidelines are in place to protect its unique heritage and ensure a peaceful atmosphere for all visitors and worshippers. Please also see our visitors guide for general practical information.

What you need to know before you arrive
Bag Policy
Large bags, backpacks, and suitcases are not permitted. There are no luggage storage facilities at the Abbey. Please only bring small bags to avoid being denied entry.
Photography
Personal photography without flash is allowed, but video recording, tripods, and selfie sticks are forbidden. Photography is not permitted during services or in certain chapels.
Dress Code
As this is a working church, please dress respectfully. Low-cut or sleeveless clothing and shorts are not appropriate. Men are asked to remove hats.
Prohibited Items
Food and drink cannot be consumed inside the Abbey. All visitors and bags will undergo an airport-style security check upon entry.
