Eligibility for Free & Reduced Entry

Free Entry

    • Children aged 0-5: Admitted free with a paying adult.
    • Visitors with disabilities and their carers: A disabled visitor and one essential carer or companion are both admitted free of charge.
    • Worshippers: Anyone attending a service, including the daily Evensong, may enter for free. Note that this does not permit access to the full visitor route.

Reduced Price Tickets

    • Seniors (65+): Eligible for a concessionary rate of £28.
    • Students: Students with a valid ID are eligible for the concessionary rate of £28.
    • Children (6-17): A child ticket costs £14.
    • National Rail 2FOR1: Holders of valid National Rail tickets can often get two adult tickets for the price of one. Check the Days Out Guide for current offers.

How to Claim

Online Booking: Free and concessionary tickets can be booked online in advance. Simply select the appropriate ticket type during the booking process. Proof of eligibility (e.g., student ID, proof of age, disability documentation) will be required upon entry.

Attending a Service: To visit for free as a worshipper, simply arrive before the service begins and enter through the designated door (usually the Great West Door). No ticket is required. Please be aware that you will be expected to stay for the duration of the service.

Do I need to book a ticket for my child under 6?
No, children aged 5 and under do not require a ticket and are admitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult.
What proof is needed for a student discount?
You will need to present a valid student identification card with a photo and expiry date at the entrance.
Can I explore the Abbey if I attend Evensong?
No. Attending a service allows you to experience the beauty and spirituality of the Abbey, but you will be seated in the Quire and will not be able to walk the visitor route to see the tombs and monuments.
